YAK wireless is coming this year

Globalive Communications Inc. to Launch Wireless Service Under YAK Brand « FastWireless.ca:

Globalive Communications Inc. is set to launch two new separate wireless services in Canada. With the financial support of the Egyptian telecommunications billionaire Naguib Sawiris, Toronto-based Globalive plans to launch a countrywide network, with the exception of Quebec, by the end of 2009. The Yak brand will be used for a planned discount wireless service that would compete directly with Fido, Solo, and Koodo. For those that are new to the Yak brand, this is the same brand that that Globalive uses to sell cheap land line, internet and long-distance services, often advertising in coupon envelopes delivered to your home. Yak service is expected to be priced even lower than Fido, Solo and Koodo and will focus on those users interested in only voice and text. Globalive will also launch another brand to compete with the core brands from Rogers, Bell and Telus, which offer smartphones and data services. Neither of Globalive’s brands will include long term contracts or system access fees."
